This policy describes how Code Cleaner handles Google user data in line with the Google API Services User Data Policy.

1. Data accessed (Google user data)
Code Cleaner accesses only the minimum Google user data needed to function:
- Google Docs content you explicitly provide — text you paste into the sidebar; text you select in the current Google Doc when using “Load selection” / “Clean selection”.
- The active document context — cursor position / selection range in the current document only (to insert formatted output).
We do not access: your Gmail, Drive files beyond the current document, contacts, calendar, or other Google services.
2. Data usage (how it’s used and why)
We use the accessed data solely to provide the requested features:
- Clean/normalize code (tabs → spaces, trim whitespace, collapse blank lines, JSON formatting where relevant).
- Detect language (heuristics) and apply syntax highlighting.
- Insert/replace the cleaned snippet into the same Google Doc you are editing.
3. Data sharing (third parties)
- No third-party sharing: Code Cleaner does not sell, rent, or share Google user data with third parties.
- No external processors: Code Cleaner does not send your document content to external APIs or servers.
4. Data storage and protection
- No persistent storage by default: Code Cleaner does not store your Google Docs content on our servers.
- Processing location: Content is processed within Google Apps Script execution for the add-on and your browser-side sidebar UI.
- Security measures: Principle of least privilege (scopes limited to the current document); no external network calls for snippet processing.
5. Data retention and deletion
Retention: We do not retain your Google user data after the action completes. Snippets may remain temporarily in:
- Your browser session (sidebar text area) until you clear it or close the sidebar.
- The Google Doc if you choose to insert it (this is under your control).
Deletion requests: Because we do not store your Google user data, there is typically nothing for us to delete. If you need help, contact support@vertexstudios.nl and we will assist.
